Great series, variety between the books, just spicy enough
I almost passed on a freebie by this author due to negative reviews. At one time those reviews may have been accurate but it seems as if the books have been edited to address the negatives in earlier reviews. They have been addressed to the benefit of the books. The complaints weren't enough to keep me from reading, they were basically things readers found unbelievable. I have no problem with that when reading purely for entertainment, so I decided to give her first book in the series a chance. Six books later, I am so glad I did. Well, sorry, not sorry that I have spent the past two days binge reading instead of taking care of things I had planned for my days off.
The heat level is high, but not any more than most contemporary romance novels these days. Definitely no "fade to black" scenes here.
The books could be read as stand alones even though you would probably get more out of reading the series in order, The is minor retelling of the story up to this point, but not like some books that leave you feeling like you just paid for the same book again, its just enough to catch up.
Each book ties the characters stories together, but, (and this is a big sticking point with me in series ) each story is unique and different.
I will keep reading this series. The most important think I want to get across is that it appears Sable Hunter has listened to criticism in the best possible way and used it to be a better writer.

Isaac and Avery
First I have to apologize, I've been spelling the McCoy name wrong in my previous reviews... been using a "K" (McKoy)... I guess it's not a big deal, but just wanted everyone to know... it's McCoy and NOT McKoy!!!!
I just knew Isaac's book would be my favorite... I've been telling you from the first book that once I got to his, it would be my favorite... I guess since I started this series... every time I pick up the next installment, it becomes my favorite... Although, truth be told... that Isaac makes his older brother Aron look like a choir boy for God sakes!!! I honestly don't think Ms. Hunter seriously knows how much her books touch my heart! I know that this book touches on a little BDSM, but for real... it's more about how two complete polar opposites come together for themselves, for their families, and for the future! Most of the books in this series have a tad bit of a dark side to them... not necessarily a villain or tragedy, but none-the-less, a dark side... definitely NOT a lighthearted tale!!! Don't get me wrong, it's hilarious, serious, loving, scary, and everything in between!!
I have to admit, I've been in love with Isaac from book one and my love for him just grew and grew throughout the series.. what can I say, I'm a sucker for a bad boy with an a$$ incased in leather!!! Even though I knew his heart was in the right place, he couldn't have pissed me off more with his treatment of Avery... I know he was trying to protect her, but he was breaking her heart while doing it and mine in the process... dummie!!! Now Avery on the other hand... come on, really, the preacher's daughter... holy hell... it reminded me of Ariel from Footloose at first... the preacher's daughter by day and the red boot wearing hussy by night... although Avery wasn't all that blatant with her transformation, but the length she went to so that she could learn and change herself to be more desirable to Isaac... Wowza!!! The author thingy was brilliant... you crack me up chica!!! Seeing all the McCoy hotties back in action was certainly no hardship to me... Love me some Aron, Jacob, Joseph, Noah, and yes even that little rascal Nathan!!! This family is one that will stick with me for years to come and not to mention they're hot friends.... Zane, Kane, Bowey, etc... what I wouldn't give to have anyone of them for... let's say... the five "F's" teeheehee!!! and the girls... oh the girls... Funny, loving, compassionate, and just plan old beautiful inside and out!!! I must say when I get to Noah's book... I'll probably throw my damn up against the wall a few times... that little sucka has been pissing me off since Jacob's book... can't wait to see him get a taste of his own medicine!!!!
I'm reading about a book every day and a half with this series... and I'm super sad to see that I'll be on the last one next... hope there's more!!! <<wink wink>> Sable Hunter!!! I'm pretty sure Noah needs a book, Bowie needs a book, Skye needs a book, etc... you get my drift!!! This particular book was 215 (kindle version) pages long and hit the spot for me... I never felt like there was fillers, I never felt like skipping around, and I NEVER wanted to put it down... every chapter gave me what I needed... I laughed, I cried, I got pissed, and I even felt compelled to go over to my neighbors and talk about it to her... She laughed at me because I've gotten so involved in this series, that it felt like real life for me... the McCoy's feel like they should be my neighbors... or at least live in my neighborhood!!!! That way I could go over to the Tebow ranch and gawk at all the hottie, ride the horses, and feed the bulls sugar cubes!! I was completely smitten with this book and I think you will be too... get started right away on this series with Cowboy Heat... Aron and Libby's story...

Avery is the preacher's daughter and she has been in love with Isaac for what seems like forever, but he won't give her the time of day.
Isaac wants Avery so badly it hurts, but she is too sweet and innocent, the preacher's daughter, so whenever she is around he is polite and chases her away. He is not good enough for her.
She finally gets mad and takes off for Vegas, going to a brothel. Not as a worker, but to learn tricks from the gals. How to be sultry, turn on a guy, how to dress and wear makeup. She even learned to do a pole dance routine.
When she came back home she threw what she learned at Isaac. A romance warmed up and got hot. Isaac introduced her to some beginner soft Dom/Submissive stuff.
Then a guy who thinks himself a Dom, but is basically crazy and mean, takes Harley who he thinks belongs to Isaac and beats her almost to death with a bullwhip. She was actually an old girlfriend of Noahs. Noah finds out and goes after Ajax, but Ajax has two guys in the wings and the beat him badly.
Isaac can't take everyone getting hurt because of him and his family hasn't taken well to his side interest, so he leaves town. At which point Avery promptly tells his family off.
Ajax finds out about Avery and gets her kidnapped after the big rehearsal dinner at the ranch. Right about that time Issac shows up as he had promised to be home for the wedding. Jessie says something about seeing him earlier and when he says he just got there, they decide something is wrong and he goes looking for Avery.
This book is full if love, misunderstandings, and danger. A very well told story. So far Isaac and Avery are my favorite couple.
